Inspired by Harvard's Green Campus Initiative, the School of Public Health has developed their new 45,000 SF facility at Boston's Landmark Center under the premise of sustainable design while promoting health, comfort and increased staff productivity. This dedication has yielded a LEED™ Certified rating for this difficult modern fit-out in an old building.

The building incorporates a raised floor throughout to accommodate the below- floor ventilation system. This allows HVAC supply air to be delivered nearly 10 degrees warmer than conventional ceiling supply air strategies. Staff personnel have control over their own space temperature and lighting from their workstations. By logging onto a website they can control their set points and lighting levels. The facilities-enhanced energy management system not only controls but is monitoring operations and developing the case study to document the benefits of this under-floor system. Other “green” features include recycled materials from the construction, use of recycled materials in the new construction products, bamboo flooring, CO2 monitoring, and building systems commissioning.
